According to Volume 4 of Notes on Touring the West Lake by Tian Rucheng of the Ming Dynasty, after Qin Hui's death, his wife asked a necromancer to hold a religious ceremony for Qin Hui. The necromancer saw Qin bearing an iron cangue and being tortured in Hell, and heard Qin Hui tell him:‘Please tell my wife that the east-window plot has been exposed.’Hence the term, referring to the exposure of a crime or plot; 亦 also 东窗事犯 dōng chuāng shì fàn东窗事发1. to be exposed or bared; to come to the light东窗事发the plot has come to light; the secret is out |
